Why are Célle Menstrual Stem Cells
So Unique from Other Stem Cells?
The expression of multipotent markers on Célle menstrual stem cells is indicative
of their distinctive potential capacity to differentiate into many other cell
types in the body much like bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. This
is relevant because bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, like cord blood stem
cells, have well-established histories of success in clinical therapies. One
significant difference between Célle menstrual stem cells and bone marrow
mesenchymal stem cells, however, is that Célle menstrual stem cells also demonstrate
some of the same markers expressed in human embryonic stem cells. This may
explain the extraordinary proliferative and differentiation capabilities of
Célle menstrual stem cells that seem to reflect their significant potential
for clinical cellular therapies.
